Before you change the gaskets make sure that the 0-rings seal properly.
Get new ones if necessary.
If you get new gaskets, clean the case, and cover, real good.
Then, apply a thin cover of anti-seize lube to both sides of the gaskets before installing.
It's an old trick we use in industrial applications; it means that you never have to clean/scrape the surfaces again to remove parts of the gaskets.
