Low Compression!!!
My 73 2.4 T was acting a little strange. It starting bucking over a wide RPM range and was loosing top end power. I checked my compression. They are 131, 142, 130, 120, 140, 105. The 105 concerns me? I checked and the intake valve clearances are good (.004"). I havn't checked the exhaust valve clearances yet. Will later. What's everybdys first guesses as to cause of low compression? Valve guides.? The motor has been run hot recently. Is there a way to check if it is rings or valves? Does the put oil in the cylinder and see if the compression changes trick work? I would think not with a boxer motor.
