Your UCMJ recollections are failing at one crucial point: I think it's Article 90. Nobody is required to obey an illegal order. and, I believe, talking about illegal orders and their consequences is protected.

Nobody is talking about giving or following illegal orders. ? You are correct though and it is a fundamental point taught early in basic training. I don't see the relevance of your statement. at92 failure to obey a lawful order.
