Maybe my tastes or priorities have changed over the last 10 years to where i have grown tired of flashy instrumental metal guitar pyrotechnics, but the best performances I have seen in the last year or so were not Satriani or Johnson. Joe was great, but I wasn't jumpig up and down in the ailsesmaking a fool of my old fat self...lol The best i have seen this year were Derek Trucks and Marc Ford. Props also to Warren Haynes. Saw two great Mule shows, but i will have to say the Derek upstaged him when the Allman Brothers played here. Marc Ford is back with the Crowes and the camera man had the Jumbotron camera on his hands for the better part of the show. It has been a while since i said "how the hell does he do that" but there I was. I don't know that I have ever actually seen a guy bend every note going up the neck for a fast solo run. Probably heard it a few times, but never seen it until now.....lol
