In fact, the (failed) actions in Iraq seem to be what lit the candle under Iran's butt to get their nuclear program started and ramped up again. They see the U.S. role in the world marginalized, our power and influence on the wane and our alliances and respect among other nations weakened as a result of the conflict. They see the public at home overwhelmingly opposed to the action, soured on the bloodlust and tired of the endless parrotting of "9/11. . . 9/11. . . 9/11. . . war on terror. . . war on terror. . . war on terror" from the administration. They see our military spread thin, enlistments at record lows and other factors and say, "good time to thumb our noses at them and pursue our OWN agenda with minimal probability of reprisal".
If Iran does get a nuke, it very likely will be Bush's fault. . . at least partiallly - for leaving the door open for them to exploit the opportunity.
