art,..... thanks for the comment....... i am painfully aware of your engine woes as i followed your progress on your new engine.... i ALMOST pulled the trigger on that gil's engine that you ended up buying, that was like a couple weeks before you bought it, im soooo sorry to hear that it was such a pain and i truly truly hope you can get that thing dialed in,....which leads me to this..... i am not NOT NOT anything near what you would call a mechanic, opening a childproof bottle poses a challenge for me so an engine removal is like asking me to assemble a carboard box, i leave that to the professionals and CANNOT take credit for the kind of stuff, being able to do that is amazing to me and i admire it.......

im having the work by professinals, by PKASSO on our board and a member of our beloved SOCG so we'll see how things turn out, i will be uploading painted engine bay pic in a minute.

gimlet911,

"300k on a 2.7? Unbelievable" yup 300 on a lil 2.7 i am as impressed as anyone else, that lil engine worked its ass off for me never EVER complaining.... i still have the orginal 915 tranny and 2 years changed the changed the clutch for the 1st time.

"Alex, you are the man" no sir, i am not,.. the engine is the one it performed as asked.....

"Guys with Toyotas would like this kind of longevity. How'd you do it?" thats true... i have always had kinda a smirk when i hear about those cars go forever.... hehehe ya so does mine....

"From the mileage, you must have driven every day. How often did you change oil?" yes sir... daily... i changed the oil every 3K miles... i use and will continue to use castrol 20-50

"Does the car have some huge oil cooler to keep temps down?" no sir... that cars engine is completely stock 2.7, never opened or modified.

"Share with us your secrets" no secrets, my dad always said, take care of your car and it will always take care of you,.... he was right.

"Drive hard? moderate? Anything at all would help" i wouldnt say i drove hard ALL the time but i did not take it easy on it over the years, often would take it out and stretch its legs so it was used to getting the rpms run through..... my wrench back home (ONLY he worked on it for 15 yrs alsways said drive the crap out of this engine, THAT is where it is most happy)

"You have three times the life expectancy of these magnesium wonders" so i hear..... i NO NO NO complaints on my 2.7

"What finally happened to make you pull the engine?" to be honest, it was leaking oil quite a bit, and burned oil which caused smoking, to fix the problems it needed to be re-built, but after 300k i felt it earned a honorable retirement,..... it EARNED the right to leak a bit of oil in my opinion

"Any chance the PO slipped a 3.0 in before you bought?" NOPE..... stock 2.7

"My 2.7 has 100k, would be pleased with 120k" hehehehe 100k?...... your barely breaking that bad boy in..... drive the snot out of it and it will be happy.... DO NOT baby it hehehe
