I don't think the seller thought he was being taken until you told him what the car may be worth. The seller and buyer had already agreed on a price. A man is only as good as his word.
I found a new job a year ago, and when I inform my previous boss that I was leaving, he offered me an additional $10,000 to stay plus an additional week of vacation. I could have told the new boss that I change my mind because my old boss was going to give me a lot more money and an addditional week of vacation. But I have already informed the new boss that I was accepting their offer for employment. A man is only as good as his word.
