Thumbs up

I got my car running tonight with the BlownSix C2T intercooler. It's a bit too late to go for a drive, so unfortunately that will have to wait until tomorrow. However, I'm happy to say that it wasn't too difficult to finish the IC installation. It was necessary to make the slots deeper in the factory C2T L-brackets in order to get the IC to seat fully at the throttle body. This, however, may not be the case with an actual C2T as my car is a rather highly modified 1981 930. If you have a C2T, you may not need to go to these lengths to install one of these monster ICs.

For those who are interested, I have documented the remainder of the installation process with pictures:

Machining the slots deeper on the factory C2T L-brackets:

Stock L-bracket on left, modified L-bracket on right:

The intercooler was installed on the modified L-brackets:

My Mikita angle grinder was handy for trimming a 1/2" x 4" section inside the deck-lid. You can barely notice this modification:

The deck-lid now closes:

I had to leave the bolt out of the fan bracket mount, otherwise the deck-lid would not close. The rear edge of the IC would stick up just far enough to keep it from closing with the bolt installed. We're talking less than 1/4" interference at the rear-most corners of the IC. I plan to drill a new hole slightly more than 1/4" below the existing hole and weld another M8 nut to the back of the bracket:

It's alive:

I have emailed Michael at BlownSix regarding the problems with their packaging. Hopefully they will improve upon this in the future, as the intercoolers seem to be very nice units.

Cheers,
