As someone who travels by airplane several times a week I can only confirm that when you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

None of the rules make any practical sense or improve air safety aside from the 'feel good' appearances. Take or leave it, flying is not a right but a privilege (or so they say).

I have had my choice of words with TSA supervisors a couple of times and I have decided not to 'exercise my privilege' to fly in several occasions, probably I'm just to old and too cranky to go thru so much unnecessary hardship several times a week.

Note to self, talk with boss and cut travel.
