Fast have U read CA laws regarding Assualt Weapons...Under those laws owning a Thompson is illegal unless Grandfathered back in 92 by registering it with the state (semi auto version), and your post is a moot point....the effect is the same... without the Att Gen letter having the gun is illegal... even law enforcement officers can't get a letter.
