Audi makes great products. Back in the day, I couldn't figure out who was more impressive - Michelle Mouton who used to hook Quattro rally cars
backward around dirt hairpins, or the Quattro itself.
Is Audi taking over from Porsche? I don't know, actually. The watercooled cars haven't been given their time yet, as far as I'm concerned, but I highly doubt they're as strong as the air cooled 911s. With that said, I'd consider a 997, Cayman S and possibly even a Boxster S over the Audi R8. By that, I only mean I'd look at the Porsches first. Then I'd hoof it down to Audi and look very critically at the R8.
