Just go to your local glass company, ask for a sheet of 1/8" or thinner clear plexiglas, about 5" x 9" or larger if you want more to play with. Then you can cut out circles from it with a razor blade or dremel.
Or you can just have them cut the circles out. They have special tools of course, but then it'll cost more.
