I was fortunate to meet Chuck Beck at the Petit LeMans last weekend. Chuck is a very nice fellow, and patiently answered several dumb questions that I asked, as I would LOVE to have a Beck Spyder to play with.
Chuck and his local associate (McMichael Motorsports) had two Beck Spyders on display, along with several other replicars. Chuck let me sit in his personal Spyder, which was tested by Motor Trend magazine in 2002. I'm a big guy, and it fit me just fine. Not the easiest car to get in and out of, but no worse than the '62 Corvette I recently sold.
IMO, the problem with these cars is that they have gotten VERY pricey in the past few years. The turn-key versions on display were $27.9K (130 HP) and $29.9K (160 HP + a close-ratio transaxle). Lots of desirable "real" Porsche choices for that money!
