The petroleum industry's marketing guys are pretty shrewd. They now have us thinking that $2.50 is inexpensive. After they hike it to $3+/gallon for a few months, they'll lower it to $3.00 and we'll think that's cheap gas too. And so on and so on.
Consumption goes hand in hand with what we think is a good price.
