Top speed is mainly limited by aerodynamic drag. Weight has almost nothing to do with it, other than to determine how long it takes to get there. That is why a car with 300hp may go, say, 165 mph, but with 600hp it will certainly not go 330 mph. Aerodynamic drag increases exponentially as speed increases. If that car goes 165mph, then it certainly is making north of 280hp. And if it is making that much power, it is almost certainly larger than a 2.4.
