Joel, as long as you have a second car to get to and from dont sweat it. My 944 has never left me stranded (20k miles and 2,5 years as my only car). Ive done a ton of preemptive maitienence on it though. The headgasket started leaking last week. The car was still drivable and it was such a minor problem i actually drove the car over 400 miles. Repairs on the otherhand are what cause most of the downtime. Im lucky my father can drop me off to school and whatnot.
One thing i would not do is buy a 944 Turbo and expect it to do something like get your wife to the hospital if shes in labor (i mean not to trust it 100%..maybe 99.9%
)
Again im not saying its not reliable, just always have another option available.
