cali to st. george and back
left bakersfield saturday morning at 2 am. Lots of thunder lightning and rain. I got over the Tehachapi mountains without hail and the storm let up and I said to my passenger how it was going to be easy from here. 30 miles later the thunder, lightning, and buckets of water started and stayed with us until outside of lost wages. I had a very small leak in the windshield seal above me on the left. not a problem. Had fresh air vent open. big problem. some water on my leg until I closed. when the dew point/humidity got close my windshield would fog. Put on heater/defrost with some success. I remembered if you put on ac it would dry out some and tried that with heaters/defrost and found the combination. Some fog and strips of water on the road kept things interesting. There is construction outside of Las Vegas with no divider reflectors and barrels in the road that was hard to figure out. Finally it got light and the storm let up outside of Las Vegas and I kicked it up to 120 and flew into St. George with my eye on the valentine one. I came back 2 days later and got to drive 100 + when safe. I have Michelin Pilot a/s and glad of it. For those that haven't driven between St. George and Las Vegas on I-15, everyone goes fast. I passed a fully loaded hay truck that was going 90 mph. If he loses hes load people die for 2 miles behind him. How many 20+ year old cars can you drive like this and have fun? Got my authentication paper from Porsche. The sticker price on my car in 1984 was 45,470.00. Divide the national debt now by the national debt then and then multiply the price and that is approximately what the cost would be today.
