I had a set of T1S (predecessor of the T1R) then switched to Yoko ES100s since I hear lots of good and then switched to T1Rs. I usually wear tires until they are nearly bald. I replaced the ES100s when they were only 1/3 worn. I hated them compared to the T1S, and the T1R's are even better than the T1S were.

ES100, poor grip compared to T1R
T1R slightly softer sidewall than ES100
T1R spectacular wet grip

WHen I had the ES100s they actually wore worse than the Toyos because they didn't have enough grip to take advantage of my camber. The ES100s were wearing very unevenly. Instead of gripping and allowing the car roll they just slid. The Toyos grip like mad and are wearing evenly.

I don't see myself ever buying another set of ES100s, but I've got T1Rs on two cars in the family.
