His basement was a labrynth of crap but he had his "shop" down there and had some amazing rods that he built (quite cheaply I might add). They were beautiful, wonderfully balanced, just perfect.

Bass Pro Shops and cabelas both have rod buidling catalogs - can;t tell you how many guides I have replaced over the years.
