Hey there,

it may or may not be new. i don't see how CV axles could cause whine, unless they aren't installed properly. all 944 series transmissions are known to be a bit noisy, the trans. in my '84 has sounded like a school bus since i bought it 5 years ago, and 30k ago. it sounds like its alright, since you can barely make it out... now i have to ask, does the sound show up just when you're accelerating? does it get worse when you accelerate hard, when you're decelerating? when you're neutral on the power and in gear? the change in sound due to stresses in the gearbox can mean different things.

on a side note, i'm a pilot as well... private ticket with instrument rating... working my way up there. i must say the ERJ 145 is probably the sexiest ride out there.... mmmm
