I saw Bob do his routine a couple of times. He'd get some altitude, shut down the engines, and then do so many flat spins, loops, etc that, well, it would make your head spin. I believe he held some records for this.
One time I thought I'd seen the end of Bob Hoover. He came in at the end of his routine so low, behind some hangers, and didn't come back up. We waited...and waited... and he came back up a thousand yards down field, still no engines. Turns out the hangers were above grade and in front of a dry wash, and Bob had silently flown down into the wash, only to shoot back up at the end, turn, and land on #'s in front of us. It still brings a chill to my spine! I thought he was a gonner(sp.?).
