If you see chain grooves on the upper pad, replace both top and bottom pads at the same time for $150.
Or replace the whole tensioner assembly for $300.
I just replaced both pads and the chain at 130k miles. Cheap insurance.
"The leak looks to be either significant, or pressurized when the engine is runnning, based on the quantity of oil on the engine"
If it's pressurized, it could be a loose or bad oil pressure sensor in the oil filter housing.
It could also be the external oil cooler hoses and fittings.
Clean up the area and let the engine run for a while and you will see where it's coming.
