Yep, Russians landed on the Moon, but no humans. I think the Apollo program died out because public interest waned and Congress couldn't justify the massive budgets that were required to keep it going.
I think Space Station has been a waste of money (even though some of the stuff I designed is up there on it) because we really haven't learned anything that we weren't learning already from Mir and Spacelab. Spacelab was retired long before it's day due to SS funding problems and SS has never realized it's capabilities due to NASA's inability to manage their money.
2010 is supposedly the end for the Shuttles. I hate to seem them go.
Too bad we lost the CEV competition - I would have loved to work on that.
Tom - I used to spend alot of time in the 4S building down at JSC... Neat place.
