That is exactly how mine has reacted to starting. It will fire off immediately within 4-5 minutes then not start again for at least an hour. It fires and dies. Idle is fine. right @ 900 RPM. I totally fu..p up when I did not do the LS1 last year. I had negotiated with Renegade to pick mine up and do a turn key for me to pick up in Vegas. $18K for everything to include 1 way shipping. I planned a trip there w/ my wife to pick it up and fly her back. I would be one w/ the car for a 3-4 day drive through Colorado, stop in and see a buddy that lives in Aspen, you get the picture. I shoulda woulda coulda. I got sidetracked with the SC thing. I also was a bit apprehensive about no power brakes and putting that kind of horsepower to an older VW Rabbit suspended car. Oh well, I should have done my homework!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
