Well I got bored last night after Mrs 944 went to bed so I decided to rectify the poor instrument lighting. I took the speedo and the tach out and took them apart. I sprayed the inside of the guages w/ chrome spray bomb paint and put in new bulbs from Porsche. The difference is amazing. They look almost like reverse lighting with the white faces I have on them For the first time in 22 years I had to actually dim them. Total cost:
(4) bulbs @ .85 ea from Porsche
(1) can chrome paint $3.99
I drove out to visit my father-in-law @ the farm this afternoon which is maybe an hour from home and with the 45 degree weather, top off, heater on, the car really runs good. I took the rest of the MAF stuff off and pulled out the boost guage and the ridiculous moto-meter air / fuel light show. I have a kind offer for a replacement center guage console and I am going back to a white VDO clock and a cig lighter for my cell phone. The way the car runs now I am just going to dyno tune it and use it.
My MAF kit is being boxed and sent to Norway no charge to another guy who did not receive his product. Hopefully he will be able to sort it out. I am sure it's just me and he seems pretty much up to speed.
Steve
