Would you mind sharing some experience with the Rennspd bumpers & mounting? Peter basically said to just mount the front using screws across the top of the bumper to the body. The 964 welting looks good. I have seen some mounted without any welting, do you think this fits snug enough to pull that off or do you recommend some type of welting?
My poor car '78 is going to end up being one customized POS. YB bumpers, c2 rockers, and a '70s Carrera tail. I guess we will see how it turns out...

What Peter said re: bumper mounting is correct. When you remove the front bumper and '78 smile you'll be left with a holes with speed clips left from the smile on the bottom of the front fenders. I reused these holed to mount my front Ruf bumper. Also in the front trunk there will be holes which I also reused. It's really self explanatory once you start removing the stock front bumper and smile.
There are alternate methods:
-Make nerf bars using the stock bumper tubes and fab up some custom mounts to the nerf bars. This way you could avoid attaching the bumper to the fenders.
-Get OEM 964 bumper 'guts'. You could get these 'guts' to add some crash protection.
My front bumper mounts better with the 964 smile. I have 930 welting which I tried but I wasn't satisfied with the fitment. The 964 smile simply makes the bumper fit the fenders better. Plus I just liked the look with the 964 smile better than without. Without the smile the top of the front Ruf bumper is LARGE!
Mounting the rear bumper is similar to mounting the front. Remove the rear OEM parts. You'll be left with speed clips in the rear fenders. Use these holes along with the fender extension brackets to mount the rear bumper.
None of the install is extremely hard - just time consuming.
Good luck with the install. Make sure to post pics!
