Ok... I misunderstood.
Think about a car and what long term abandonment does to it. All the engine seals dry up, condensation causes corrosion in the engine, all the rubber goods deteriorate, etc.

Now think about that in a plane - especially a plane with two engines (and twice the amount of expensive stuff to deteriorate).

Now think about the fact that you can't "pull over" when a hose let's go.

Another mechanic and I used to travel around and do some PPIs for people. A plane that had been sitting was immediately getting lots of red ink on the review.
