You would normally have to state the value of the items, and this is where UK import duties come in to play. I always send stuff with 'no commercial value' or 'samples not for resale' or something of this nature. If however the part is expensive then insurance is a must.

I've sent stuff via US mail all over the world and never had a problem - the last package only took a couple of days - quicker than sending items in the UK.
