Thanks guys. Yea, I've got the firewire cable and use it once in a while. In this cse, however, I converted the MiniDV tape over to VHS tape about five years ago and then just recently burned a copy onto a DVD from the VHS tape. The MiniDV has long since been erased.
No worries though because I decided to try a simple drag and drop of all the files from another similar DVD with a similar video to the laptop's hard drive and, whadaya know, it worked.
The files play just fine on the laptop. However, when I tried to use Windows Movie Maker to create a short video clip from the larger video, it didn't recognize the .VOB format.
Any suggestions there?
