Well, there are many more differences between a liberal and a conservative -- one being that the conservatives have shown a willingness to run up debt at a staggering rate, creating a false sense of economic well-being. On a pay-as-you-go basis, the last 6 years of conservative dominance have increased the tax debt load on every American taxpayer by about $30K.

Worse, because the money was borrowed, the total cost is probably going to be triple that in debt service and principal reduction (assuming the US ever geets to the point of being able to reduce the debt).

The conservatives have run a fantasy economic policy in three of the last four administrations and have been the major player in increasing the national debt nearly 8X.

How is a liberal different? Supporting domestic spending programs rather than overseas spending. Running smaller deficits by tracking taxation closer to spending levels. Ending the most egregious corporate welfare.

Neither liberal nor conservative are the ideal government modality. But after the wreck the conservatives have made of America's standing in the world -- monetarily, militarily and even in terms of moral leadership, how could any other ideology have done worse?
