A Bigger Bang and the Mtherfker Yawned
Yep I dropped five C notes on the Rolling Stones Bigger Bang Show at the MGM Grand in LV. This was the 13th show they did in LV AND Micks Dad died earlier in the day at 93.
This was the second time I have seen the Rolling Stones, the first was back in July of 72 at the LA Forum. It was the Exiles on Main Street Tour with Mick Taylor. Best fkin show ever...when Mick did the Midnight Rambler he took off his belt and on all fours hit the floor with it...this time it was just a bunch of fairy prancing around stage. Instead of Mick Taylor U have Ronnie Knockin on Wood..there is simply no comparison. U might say that the 72 tour was the first of the Show Biz Tours or the last of the Real Bad Ass Tours. However U wana cut it the Stones operate like a well oiled machine that has the numbers timed down to the second. Therein lies the problem the show is just too scripted, they give U your moneys worth, but it is jsut going over the same numbers for the 40th year. In the middle of Jumpin Jack Flash, Mick was on our side of the arena and he YAWNED....thanks, $500 a seat and he yawns...U might as well say the Rolling Stones are the lastest incarnation of the Beach Boyz, who spent years on the circuit playin their moldy oldies..Yep all in all it was worth seein em again, they put on a Great Show, but now that I've seen em, wouldn't do it again. At least this time my ears weren't buzzing for 2 days like the last time...I guess thats a sop for all the well healed old geeezers that show up for their concerts.
Now if they were to play a non scripted show where everything hung out...then I'd be the first in line.
