Home Theater help

I'm totally perplexed by this problem and hoping someone can help me fix it.

Problem - Can't get Video from VCR onto TV.

I have a Sony 40" LCD with lots of inputs on the back (HDMI, component, composite, etc.)

VCR (Sony also, not that it matters) only has Red/White/Yellow composite terminals.

I have run composite cables from these to the Video IN on the back of my Sony A/V Receiver.

From Video OUT on back of Sony A/V Receiver, I have run composite cables to back of Sony TV, at Video 1.

Receiver is set to Video 1.

I get audio from VCR through stereo. No video on TV, even cycling through all 7(!) input choices for TV.

There is a TV/Video button on the VCR; I switched that to Video to no avail. Toggling it between TV/Video has no effect.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I only want to use the VCR to play back existing tapes - going to use the DVR for new recordings.

I'm thinking its a matter of a single setting, but I'm totally stumped. If I can't solve it, I'll have to bite the bullet and bring someone in, for something like a 30-second fix.
