Agreed. i think that the track test won't necessarily prove anything.
If the car DOES pull to 8500 in 3rd, then the critics will doubt (and reasonably so, of course) the accuracy of an old and unknown tachometer.
If the car DEOSN'T pull to 8500, well then the parts on the track, and the cleanup will be proof enough I guess.
To me, a neultral party/dyno shop is the ONLY legitimate way to verify the 8500 claim.
I'd be statisfied with a dyno trace in 3rd gear showing revs and time.
