I don't want to belabor the point too much. Yes, we are still guilty in God's eyes under the Law. We always will be. Jesus' message of coming to "fulfill" the law means he is accepting punishment in our stead, and relieving us of the Law.
No, we cannot ignore the Old Testament. We just don't have to live it anymore. It stands as a constant reminder of why Jesus came. He tells us to leave the punishments and judgements outlined in it to God; it is no longer for us to implement them.
