When looking at which 911 to get, reading this forum pointed me at the "bullet-pruf" years of 78-83. I needed a daily driver.. and I got one very reliable one in a 1980SC Targa with 155k miles on it. I've done a whole bunch of minor mods, but nothing too complciated. I am interested in the Carreras for the motronic and G50 transmission, but not yet the lighter (but less-reliable so I've heard) 2.7s - some day. The 964s and 996s seem rather expensive, complicated and not nearly as reliable. Ok.. so they may be faster, but the *driving experience* of my SC is eminently satisfying.
