They're light because the barrel part that goes around the center is lighter than the comparable section from a whole Fuchs. The only downside to this is that the outer barrel is softer than a Fuchs.
So it appears that the premium you pay for Lindsey's over Trudesign's is somewhat justified.

Does anyone make a modified wheel that uses forged rims?
