This is the monitor I came up with for my eyes and distance.

It seems like the best in class is Dell 2407 WFP wide screen and the 23" ACD [apple c d].

Dell has something about creating color at a 6 and the ACD is 8.

The ACD is about $400 more

Dell list is $799, retail on their site is $679
Dell max resolution is 1920x1200 on the wide screen.
Dell response time is 6ms

It seems that once I also consider Dell's bells and whistles it's 6 in one hand.. etc

There is some kind of screen color balancing gizmo running from around $75-275

I'm going to my computer builder and see if he wants to sell me the Dell.
