Has anyone else noticed their music 'tastes' changing according to which vehicle they drive?
A few years ago, I was spending a lot of time in the seat of a 4x4 pick-up truck. I started listening to country stations (part of it was the territory I was serving) and buying a few tapes (Dan Seals, Waylon, Garth, Reba, Shania). The whole thing started scaring my wife a little bit. When I traded the truck for a car, it just stopped. I went back to the light rock.
I still play a few of those songs, though.
A couple of years ago, my son phoned up and asked me who did the song, "Addicted". I said the one I used to play and sing when he was growing up was done by Dan Seals. Later, he downloaded a copy and called me up to say,"I didn't realize the song was so COUNTRY!" I guess over the years, I had put a different sound on it and that's the only way he'd ever heard it.
We tend to divide music into categories based upon the 'sound' or style. A lot of good songs have been ruined that way.
