I just fixed something that was driving me crazy. My alternator light has been on dim, especially w/ the lights on. In addition it has been cranking slow. Today it did'nt start for the first time in 22 years, I got stranded. After looking closely at the battery connections I realized that the battery cable was wasted. I got it to start and came home to the garage and then took the Durango to Auto Zone and picked up a 2ga X 72" starter cable and a couple brass battery terminals. It took a few minutes, maybe an hour, after getting the car up on blocks to take out the old cable and reinstall a new one. After getting it done the car cranked like never before, lights are bright, no warning light. I was getting ready to buy an alternator but after looking at the wire close (it was green) it is amazing it ever worked. While doing it I also redid the grounds and used a good dielectric on everything. I guess that the simple things should be checked first.
