The Battleship Mushashi, sister ship to Yamato and about equivelantly protected to the Iowa class ship pictured above, took 9 armor piercing bombs and seven heavy weight Mk13 torpedos to sink.
The USS Cole- typical of modern warship designs- was almost blown in half with a rubber boat full of C-4.
There is something to be said about 'the way we used to make em'.
