Nope! I am an A&P and unless its called out for in the AC 43-13 manual or the factory repair manual, its not allowed.
Now, does that mean that its not used? Hell yes, its used but just not talked about... and usually to get the bird home then repaired correctly. I will not do it as I like having my license but have seen airplanes land with it on...
