I bought my dad a 2001 Chevy 2500HD Quadcab with the Duramax and I felt the same way you descibed when I drove it. I drove it down to give it to him and pulled the 911 to drive back. I couldn't tell I was pulling anything. The truck really impressed the hell out of me. My dad likes it also.

Also, I had a 4.4l X5 a couple years ago. They are very sporty SUVs and a blast to drive. I got rid of it because it was costing me more than a new car payment to keep it on the road every month in repair bills. Once it got to 70k miles all hell broke loose. Every window regulator broke. When that happens the window just falls down in the door. BMW charges $300 per to fix. That was the least of the repair bills. One time the engine fan clutch ceased and the fan exploded on the highway causing $5k in damage.
