I can't remember now how I figured out my build date. It's related to the VIN, obviously, but I can't remember how to decipher the code. It seems to me that you used to be able to inquire of H-D customer service to get the build date. I would try a call to their 800 number, or an e-mail. For me, it was very obvious mine was affected when I got the letter from H-D extending the engine warrenty.
Yeah Mike, I ride a lot. Almost every day that it is not raining too hard. I put many more miles on my bikes in any given year than my cars, even my daily driver. I ride to relax and unwind after work. It's tough up here this time of year with the short days and nasty weather, but I try. An after work jaunt for me typically runs through at least a tank of gas on the big bagger, which is 160 miles or so. I've done it so long it's just a part of my day now; I get pretty edgy when I miss my rides for too long. Like right now. Damn snow...
