Targa top rebuild by Cars Inc *pics*

I've had this car since Feb. 06 and the Targa top has always been an issue. The PO had it recovered some years ago in a black denim type material that you see on convertible tops. It looked OK but that all changed the first time I went over 80 mph. The fabric caught the air stream at the leading edge and turned into a huge air scoop. It scared the crap out of me. The wind noise was incredible. Ever since then my car has been a fair weather machine.

At DE's I would have to "speed tape" the edges of the top to keep it down at speed. It looked awful and I got more than a few rolling eyes from the rest of the Porsche folks. Embarrassing to say the least. See the pic below at about 100 mph even the tape wouldn't stay down. That must have really helped my aero profile.

After making a little profit on a car deal I finally bit the bullet and sent the top off to Dan at Cars Inc. in NJ. The top was completely rebuilt, broken and missing parts replaced and came back to me like new. He turned it in 2 days as promised for the flat rate fee you can see on his website CarsInc . I had the stage III rebuild done. The headliner is beautiful. The German Vinyl top looks great and it all fits very tight like I'm sure it did back in 1987. A couple of small wrinkles will surely flatten out once it sits in the sun for a while.

I am in no way affiliated with them, just a happy customer. Here are some before and after pictures.

After.
