Since we don't really care about the people in the ME or their governments and just want their oil. A Shock and Awe military policy is warranted.

Under this policy you whack Iran hard with air power, hitting all their Air defense systems and Nuclear Program sites. Ground troops would be used for Lightening quick raids to destroy or neutralize any targets of value. Elimination of Political/Religious leadership would be part of the program, as well as infrastructure (Power Plants, Bridges, Sewage Plants etc) Then the US military pulls back.

Since our goal is the elimination of threats to the security of the USA and not nation buiding the USA wouldn't care if Iran falls into the Failed State catagory. It would actually be benifical to the US if it were a failed state. In that it would not be able to mount any kind of coordinated attack on US interests. The US would from time to time surgically remove any AL Qadea type training camps etc that might be established. The US would keep Iran in a state of chaos and disorder.
