You're absolutely right, but nobody but scholars seem to want to acknowledge this. Slavery, as wrong as it is, is as old as mankind itself. Blacks indeed enslaved other blacks. Throughout history, on all continents, groups of people enslaved others who were not able to defend themselves.
What a horrible human legacy, eh?
And, yes. There
is a double standard when it comes to racial tolerance, with whites held to a much higher standard than other groups. However, I suppose that's the price white people pay for the long period of domination and enslavement that their ancestors inflicted upon black people.
