Read through this thread and man, there are some weird ideas out there.
Shouldn't every reasonable person KNOW that the color of your skin has NOTHING to do with your character? That there is so much more in us that is identical than differs. Every reasonable person regardless of color or national origin loves their children, aspires to better things, bleeds when cut, hopes for a better tomorrow. Kumbaya? Yeah, so what? You DON'T think our better selves shouldn't see things that way?
Perhaps the only lasting value coming out of the debacle that the Rodney King's episode in America was IS his anguished, tearful cry, "Can't we all just get along?" In that he was/is right. Why does everyone it seems, have to be such haters, such "scaredy-cats"?
You get nervous, offended, upset because another person pronounces a word differently than you do? Eats different foods, enjoys the company of other men and women that he feels he will relate to better? I don't see how any thinking person could SLIGHTLY entertain the idea of disliking another for their skin color.
Incidentally, (and this oughta make a few of the haters -regardless of color - spring up) being Hispanic is not a different "race" than being "white" - whatever that means. Any more than being Greek or Italian is. It is a nationality thing, not a race thing. Blast away, call names, tell me how immigrants (no, I'm not defending illegal immigration) THREATEN your way of life but your forebearers coming here didn't. Go ahead, tell me.
