The DCS (daks) 3/1 muxes DS-1 to DS-3 or OC-3 and the other way around too.
Take 155Mbit/s and figure out how many 64k channels you could fit in it. Thats how many people I potentally cut off.
But it was not all telephone traffic I would guess. Some of it was prolly fat guys looking at porn, in their underwear. The outage only lasted a minute or 2.
