Pat, type about:cache into the address bar of Firefox and it'll bring up memory and disk cache info. Under the disk cache it will tell you the folder being used for the cache.
This woks in winxp, but I'd imagine it'd work in MacOS too.
edit: when I do this to view my cache, it seems firefox's cache isn't just straightforward html, jpg, etc. files like IE and Netscape caches are, so that might not work. Maybe try disconnecting your network cable, then clicking the link - that might get firefox to load the cached version of the page, rather than the live version.
You could always try searching your hard drive for *.jpg, but that could yield a lot of crap to wade through.
