I'm getting ready to have my 1977 Targa repainted. Previous owner had installed an aftermarket fiberglass tail, which I'm thinking of removing.

While it doesn't look bad, I prefer the plain rear end look from an aesthetic standpoint. However, after looking closely at the tail, it would appear to give much better ventilation than the standard grill, and my car does run nice and cool (about 170 degrees), which is important here in San Antonio. I do not have an auxiliary oil cooler.

Question is, is this tail helping keep my car cool? If so, I'll keep the tail. If not, I'll have to hunt for a new grill.
